Skyscrapers, high-rise buildings and condominiums,
supermalls and department stores, subdivisions, townhouses, business
and commercial establishments, health spas, movie and entertainment
facilities, fine dining restaurants and fast food chain of stores---all
of these are reflective of a town in transformation which has now
become one of the highly urbanized cities in Metropolitan Manila.
This is Pasig today, a suburban town which became a city by virtue
of Republic Act 7829 effective 08 December 1993. In fact, big business
and financial establishments are scrambling for a space to set up
their respective offices at the Ortigas Center, which is fast developing
into a financial and commercial district, giving Ayala Center a
stiff competition. The imposing structure of the Tektite Towers
housing the Philippine Stock Exchange Center (PSEC) has changed
the commercial landscape of the Ortigas Center.
